| The Cottages Accommodation located in the heart of Exmoor country (see location), near the picturesque village of Exford, Somerset, near the border with Devon. Our four very comfortable stone self catering cottages were converted from barns, and this accommodation retains the old character of these buildings. They sleep 2, 4, 5 and 6 people, in one, two and three bedroom cottages. These and the stables are set around a large courtyard, which provides ample parking. All the cottages
are fully self-contained and well-equipped, with radio/CD/tape player,
satellite TV and DVD player. There are log fires in the three larger cottages.
There are baths and showers. Bed linen is provided. We welcome
well-behaved pets, and we are open all year.
There is new Games Room, Laundry plus Drying Room and a secure Cycle storage
room.
Please note that many couples book one of the larger cottages to have more room and more facilities, so if there are only two of you don't just look at Gorse Cottage! Heather Cottage: Sleeps up to 6 people in 3 downstairs bedrooms (one with a double and two twin bedrooms). Upstairs, under the original exposed beams, is the spacious living/dining/kitchen area with a wood-burning stove and a bathroom with a bath and separate shower. Steps up to the front door and downstairs one door leads into the courtyard and another opens to the small private garden looking down to the river. Bracken Cottage: Sleeps up to 5 people in 2 downstairs bedrooms (one with a double bed and one with 3 singles), and a bathroom with a bath and a separate shower. Upstairs, under the exposed original beams, is the spacious living/dining room with a wood-burning stove and a separate kitchen area. Steps up to the front door and an additional door to the courtyard downstairs. There is a shared, separate small garden area looking down to the river. Fern Cottage: Sleeps up to 4 people in 2 bedrooms comprising a double and a twin. There is a living/dining room with a wood-burning stove, a kitchen and a bathroom with a bath and a separate shower. As well as the front door from the courtyard, there is a door which opens to the small private garden looking down to the river. Fern Cottage is all on one level with no steps and is therefore suitable for the partially mobile. Gorse Cottage: Sleeps 2 people upstairs in a double room with a separate bathroom (no separate shower, but there is a shower attachment on the bath). Downstairs is a cosy living/dining/kitchen room. The cottage also has a fully enclosed stone porch... a good place to keep outdoor clothing and boots out of the cottage, and to wipe the dog down! There is a shared, separate small garden area looking down to the river.
General Information: All cottages are well-equipped with full-size beds, comfortable suites, heated towel rails and personal touches including hand-made quilts, original pictures and ornaments, plus books, games and puzzles. They all have an electric cooker, fridge, microwave oven, colour TV (with free satellite channels), DVD player and a radio/CD/tape player. All bed linen, duvets and tea towels are provided, and beds are made up for your arrival. Please bring your own towels, although these can be hired. We provide all cleaning materials, soap and lavatory paper. A laundry & drying room as well as a games room are provided. We can supply a cot, high chair and stair gate at no extra charge, and baby sitting by arrangement. There is a payphone in the games block. Electricity is by £1 coin meter. All gardens have garden furniture.
